TOTAL Eye Candy!

It has been a while since I posted, but the biggest reason for this is I went to Butchart Gardens on Mother's Day weekend and was totally blown away by it's beauty. I was like a kid in a candy store and I do not think the smile ever left my face. Problem is, I could not stop taking pictures, took about 400 I am sure. It was amazing. Apparently one of the best Spring displays ever, simply because of the way our weather has been - a cold Winter and late Spring meaning late blooming things arriving at the same time as the right time bloomers, hence a terrific show, and it IS a show! Enormous credit to the designers of the flower beds amongst the general overall look at these magnificent gardens. The colour schemes were incredible. Some of the monotones were even more stunning. They would take the background into consideration, for instance. If there were cream Rhododendrons, then the flowers in front of this could all be cream too and this theme happened throughout the gardens. Of course because of the enormous amount of pictures, all I did was put a huge pressure on myself on the process of elimination. It was ALMOST impossible. I still am posting way more than I should, but could not reduce any further, heehee!!! Hope you enjoy them, but of course the real proof is BEING THERE!! Pauline PS - If you click to enlarge, you may be truly amazed. I am still on a high of the gardens and I thank my dear friend Binners for encouraging me to go visit with her, even though I, (we both) had a busy schedule that weekend. WONDERFUL!
You will see on the third of this set of pictures that at some point in the gardens (actually from the Japanese Gardens), there is a lookout between the trees of this beautiful view of Brentwood Bay and the new tour boat belonging to the gardens. I am not sure if it is in operation yet, but this will also be a future asset to visiting the gardens.

Thank you for looking. Pauline

HOLY MOLY, Pauline! What a treat this tour is!! You did an amazing job capturing all their beauty..for some reason, the deep purple and white tulips in the bed of forget-me-nots really stood out for me. But all the other flowers are just as beautiful..I love the falling effect of the white flowers down the rock. Glad you're back 'cuz I did miss your posts!

That is almost unreal looking!!How many people take care of that place?? Some of the pictures showed so many flowers it reminded me of a page in a childrens book. Like a page out of a Dr. Seuss book, Who-land.

Oh, MY! What incredible photos. The larger-scale ones are so breath-taking they almost don't look real. I'd have been smiling, too. Thank you so much for sharing all this beauty.

Wow, there are so many standout garden beds, and combinations. It has been a while since I visited Butchart Gardens. The intricate tapestries of the colourful garden beds are fascinating. I love the areas where the tulips, yellow, white or red, are surrounded by the little blue flowers.
When I see shots like these, I think I just don't plant enough bulbs in the fall. I must remember to order an extra 10 000 bulbs for next fall. :)

So nice to make your aquaintence Pauline. I just came over from Susan's, BNOTP, via your comment you left on her lovely porch.
What a delight to discover another rose lover. The Butchart Gardens pictures took my breath away when I first clicked over here. I will be back often to look at them again. For now I am adding Forget-me-nots to my nursery shopping list. Our old houses garden was covered with those tiny blue flowering plants that nestled below the tulips in the spring. Now after seeing this post I am wishing that I would have dug a few up to bring to this house.
Again, so nice to meet you.

Holy COW! That is a gorgeous place and your photographs are professional in quality! They are amazing! I cannot get over the variety and color in the gardens...almost more than I can handle all at once;-) I am sure your day was fabulous, and I am going to mark that as a garden I need to see before I die;-) Thanks for uploading so many photos to share. I don't like uploading photos to blogger, it's kind of a pain. It usually takes forever, so you deserve kudos for your efforts!!

That is beyond words! Beautiful pictures! I haven't been in many years and I was just telling my husband I want to go this summer. After seeing your pictures I want to go even more!

Roses at Wedgwood House and Gardens said...

Oh you guys, thank you so much.

Wouldn't it have been fun if wee could all have visited together. I do not think that I will ever forget that day. I am lucky to live not that far away from Butchart, and every Season is a treasure there, even in the winter! Especially Christmas time. I have not experienced that yet.

Catherine, I hope you do get to go this summer. Of course it is very touristy, naturally and summer must be the peek time. If you guys are going solo, try and go early in the morning. I felt lucky this time to have been able to take a lot of pictures without people in them, but if I had no choice, I would take them anyway, of course!

I heard some people along the way asking where the rose garden was as they were REALLY looking forward to seeing the roses. I felt really sorry, that they did not realize that there would not be any roses this early in the season, especially at Butchart!

I still visited their rose garden, even though off season and was still thrilled by it's expectations. Wow they were pruned soo very low, in other words hard pruned. The plants were so very close together. Looked like even a foot, two at the most apart! WOW! so not the norm in home gardens. But I was happy to see that, as if I am able to follow their system at some point, then it means that I can wiggle in some more roses, teehee!!!

Anyhow, I am so happy you all enjoyed my day at Butchart's!

I loved all your comments - so much appreciated with thanks.

Pauline, no wonder you are still on that high! These are phenomenal photos. It looks like everywhere you turned, there was something glorious to photograph! And how nice that it wasn't so crowded that you couldn't get some lovely flowers-only images. Bet you were making up bouquets in your mind as you went... :-)

Hi Everybody!

i've been trying to figure out a place to begin the Acai Berry free trial & was just wanting to know if someone had any opinions on whether or not the stuff works to lose weight? So far this is the 1 article I've been able to check out that seemed realistic for what my goals are. Thoughts?

Pauline, Can you tell me where in the US you live? I am trying my hand at English roses and have been admiring yours. I live in Alabama which is very hot and humid and not the perfect climate for most of the David Austin roses. Yours are so pretty and healthy looking. Just an admirer who is envious.
